Property Sales increased in June

Residential property sales increased by 19.4%

According to the latest data released by the National Institute of Statistics, there were 151,447 properties sold or transferred in June, 3.3% more than in the same month last year.

Purchases and sales of housing increased by 19.4% when compared to June in the previous year.

Of all the property sales recorded in June, 85.1% related to urban property, with only 14.9% of transactions being for rural. In the case of the urban property sales, 58.4% were for residential property.

Purchases of rural property decreased slightly with a 1.6% fall on the annual rate. Urban property sales increased by 12.3%.

Transactions by Autonomous Community

When looking at property sales by community per 100,000 population, the highest numbers were seen in Aragon with 651 transactions. Next was La Rioja (634), and Castilla y Leon (569).

When looking at the highest annual increases the Balearic Islands come out on top with a 20.2% increase in sales. The islands were followed by Madrid with an increase of 11.6%, while Catalonia saw an increase of 10.2%.

The largest negative annual variations were seen in Galicia (-15.1%), Castilla-La Mancha (-7.3%) and Murcia (-7.2%).

When looking at sales of homes in communities per 100,000 residents we see the Balearic Islands at the top with 136 transactions. Valencia and the Canary Islands came next with 128 and 118 sales, respectively.

The highest annual increase on sales of residential property was on the Balearic Islands which saw a 36.2% increase. Catalonia was next with a 34.4% increase and Castilla-La Mancha with a 32.3% increase.

The largest negative variations were recorded in Navarra and La Rioja with -12.7% and -12.2%, respectively.

Andalusia

Andalusia was one of only two communities to see more than 20,000 transactions. In June there were 25,876 sales (393 per 100,000 residents), an annual increase of 4.5%. When looking only at residential property sales, the total in June was 7,496 (114 per 100,000 residents), an increase of 21.7%.
