19.2% increase in used property sales in June

There were 88,034 property sales/purchases in June, an annual increase of 18.6%. Compared to the previous month the number fell by 1.3%, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics.

86.8% of the properties sold were urban properties, compared to 13.2% rustic property. In the case of urban properties, 57.8% were for home buying or selling, an annual increase of 19.3%.

The number of sales of rustic properties increased by 5.9% annually, while the number of urban property sales increased 20.8%.

17.9% of the home sales in June correspond to new properties, compared to 82.1% used.

The number of new homes sold represents an annual increase of 19.8%. The number of used properties sold represents an increase of 19.2%, compared to June 2016.

Results by Autonomous Communities

In June, the total number of properties sold per 100,000 inhabitants reaches its highest in La Rioja (669), followed by Castilla and Leon (652), and Castilla La Mancha (607). In Andalucia there were 425 sales per 100,000 inhabitants.

The Canary Islands (23.7%), La Rioja (22.7%) and Comunidad Foral de Navarra (22.0%) recorded the highest annual variation.

Aragón (-10.8%), Cantabria (-2.1%) and Basque Country (0.9%) have the lowest annual variations.

Regarding the purchase of homes, the communities with the highest number of transmissions per 100,000 inhabitants are the Balearic Islands (165), the Community of Valencia (159) and the Community of Madrid (144). In Andalucia the number of home sales per 100,000 inhabitants was 130, an annual increase of 12,9%.

The communities with the largest annual increases in the number of housing sales in June are Comunidad Foral de Navarra (40.2%), La Rioja (40.1%) and the Community of Madrid (32.6%).

At the other end of the table, Aragon (1.2%), Basque Country (6.0%) and Galicia (6.4%) recorded the lowest annual variation rates in June.
